Pixel tool suggestions

The pixel tool works on a grid, correct?
all im asking is if you could make it work more like the previous pixel tool, at the very least.
that or the grid can be optional, or the grid can simply not get bigger while the size of the tool does, or that the pixel tool can also have a circle shape.
