I'd like to know why I have to download Flockmod now instead of just using it in my Google web browser. Is it because I have Google Canary or is this new?

i can launch the program but it just shows it's disconnected and doesn't show the rooms list at all

I used to be able to use Flockmod in a website browser but now it's only telling me to download it since my computer has been restarted completely without losing my pictures. I just would like to know why.
